Rule #7: No Political Posts. Look into the Panduit laser/inkjet label sheets (S100X125YAJ for standard cat6 and cat5e cables, S100X075YAJ if dealing with reduced diameter cat6). Panduit has Word templates available for download, which can allow you to print out labels for up to 28 cords/sheet (S100X125YAJ) and up to 45 cords/sheet (S100X075YAJ). I believe Panduit also has labeling software to help automate the creation of serial labels, though I have found it is just easier to type them up yourself and print them out. Panduit has a myriad of sizes and (even) colors available for these labels, just make sure the size you choose allows for at least one wrapping of the clear 'window' side of the sticker over the opaque section of the label that has the label text on it. Copy/paste from a recent comment I wrote to another thread: We got labels that are designed for Cat5e, which still work pretty fine on larger Cat6/6a cables.

The ones we got are You can also search on Panduit's product catalog to find what you'd like - it's a little messy, but. Gives a cleaner, more easily digestable overview of the cable sizes and market types.
Some are available on Amazon, others have to be purchased from other distributors. Overall we've been very pleased so far. The hardest part was building a template on our end to automate the label generation using the style we wanted. They sell software to format and print the labels if you prefer - at that point it's just a cost calculation of time to tweak something on your end vs having a pre-made tool (for us it was significantly cheaper to do our own templating system than to pay for theirs). The panduit labeler/laser sheets is the best solution. Especially if these cables are going to be in a datacenter exposed to the hot aisle exhaust. If you dont use labels with a protective overwrap like the S100X150YAJ, etc, the printing will fade and the adhesive will dry out from the exposure to 95 degrees and the labels will fall off within months.
The LS8EQ panther kit cost about $500. The kit comes with the labeler, batteries, a tape cartridge, ac adapter and software.
There are two models. The LS8E and the LS8EQ. The only difference is that the Q model has a QWERTY layout for the keypad. Thats the one I have and it works pretty well. If you have alot of labels to do then as others have recommended get the laser printer sheets and the template from panduit. I can tell you though from experience that the S075X150YAJ size will not fit on a regular size cat 6 cable.
The label will go on but it isnt even able to fully wrap around on itself which is the whole point of having the protective overwrap labels. Order the S100X150YAJ size.
That will give you up to 6 lines of text at 6 point font. Use the handheld labeler for one offs but do the majority of them via the word template and print on the laser sheets.
The PC link software for the LS8 labelers is god awful. I doubt you will find any use for it other than flashing the firmware. A set of 8 alkaline batteries will last a few months with regular use.
Label cartridges are about $35 for 200 labels which is really only 100 cable labels if you are labeling both ends.
